Business Services

Business Services strives to keep our District financially strong while providing the most effective system possible to support and enhance our learning environments and the operations of Hopkins Public Schools.
The Business Services Department oversees the Business Office, Buildings and Grounds, Food Services, and Transportation departments. The controller, accountant, revenue accountant, accounts payable, payroll, copy center, and District mail are all part of the Business Services Department and located in the Educational Services Center in Eisenhower Community Center.

The department also oversees school board elections and any other capital or operating referendum elections.

Interim Chief Financial Officer - Jessica Olson

Jessica Olson serves as Interim Chief Financial Officer through a consultancy agreement with Center for Effective School Operations (CSEO), bringing more than 15 years of experience in financial management and operations, including specialized expertise in school finance. She provides steady financial leadership and oversees the district’s budgeting, payroll, forecasting, audit coordination, and financial reporting. Olson works closely with the Superintendent, district leadership, Citizens Financial Advisory Council (CFAC), and the School Board to support transparent, compliant, and sustainable financial decision-making. Her focus is on maintaining stable financial operations and ensuring the district’s resources remain aligned with its educational priorities in service of students, families, and the community.

Hopkins Public Schools  has received the Certificate of Excellence (COE) in  Financial Reporting award from the Association of School Business Officials International. The District was recognized for its high-quality Comprehensive  Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending 2021. This is the twelfth consecutive year the District has received the award.
