Spring Break. Tomorrow is the first day of spring break. School resumes on Monday, April 1.  Whether you are traveling or staying at home we hope you have some quality family time with your wonderful children.  Perhaps you can have family quiet reading times with you as an example of a life long reader.

Starbase. Our fourth graders will be attending Starbase right after spring break. This is a wonderful week long field trip during the school days filled with STEM activities including designing a rocket fin, printing it on a 3D printer, launching it and tracking it with GPS.

Playground Paras needed. Are you interested in working from 11:30am-1:30pm? Meadowbrook is hiring a recess/lunchroom/handwashing para.  Please apply online at the Hopkins Public Schools web site for Job ID #3389 Playground Paraprofessional and let Cami in our office know that you applied.

Author visit. Local author and illustrator Nancy Carlson visited Meadowbrook this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. She shared a number of childhood experiences that inspired her earliest stories, presented highlights of her work, and showed students how to draw Harriet, George, and other iconic characters. She also challenged students to join her in the "Doodle-a-Day" challenge in order to exercise their imaginations. Nancy was touched that some of the books she autographed had been signed for a parent in the 1980's! Thank you PTO for paying for this experience for our students.

Save the Date for Run Meadowbrook Run! The 5th Annual Run Meadowbrook Run will take place on Saturday, June 1st at Brookview Park in Golden Valley. This event features a 5K race and a 1 mile fun run. For more information visit or contact Natalie Sawatzky at or 952-988-5105. Come run with us!

PTO Spring Plant Sale - We are extending the deadline for turning in plant sale orders to the week after Spring Break. Keep sending in those orders for beautiful, naturally-grown flowers, plants, and veggies. This is a great fundraiser for the PTO as we earn anywhere from $2-$10 on each and every plant ordered, but our prices are still competitive with local nurseries and garden centers. All orders are now due Friday, April 5. Plants will be here for pickup Saturday, May 11, just in time for Mother's Day. For ordering info see our PTO page at

Cabin Fever—Parents Night Out. Tickets are now on sale for Meadowbrook's largest fundraiser, Parents Night Out and Silent Auction. The event will take place at Brookview Community Center on April 5th from 6:30pm-11:00pm. Join us for a fun (adults only) night out of socializing with fellow Meadowbrook parents while raising money for our awesome students and staff. Use the following link to purchase tickets. $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Questions or donation ideas can be sent to
