  • Was one of the first middle schools in Minnesota to be named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education;
  • More recently, was identified as one of our nation's 100 Highly Effective Middle Schools;
  • Has a population of just over 900 students who engage in highly personalized programs. Our Alternating Day Block Schedule affords students and staff the time to delve deeply into their studies within the 84-minute class session;
  • Participates in the International Baccalaureate program, a globally-recognized curriculum framework, representing current best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment;
  • Places students on one of two grade-level teams, which results in every student having both a Connect 2 Advisor and a shared team of teachers;
  • Offers world language through ninth-grade, including our unique Juntos Spanish Immersion program;
  • Offers Visual and Performing Arts: orchestra, band, and a number of art electives;
  • Offers exploratory courses (in areas such as, Technology Education, Physical Education, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies), which allow students to take additional elective classes in these areas;
  • Offers gifted and talented options, which focus on Science, Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies, both within the school day and beyond;
  • Offers a variety of athletic opportunities and other activities;
  • Offers a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) focus in all three grades with highly challenging electives targeting STEM skills;
  • Offers programming to support students choosing rigor and challenge in preparing for post-secondary learning through the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program;
  • Integrates technology into education with mobile laptop and chromebook carts, and iPads in the classrooms; and
