The Hopkins High School Music Department is a Grammy Signature School Semi Finalist. The high school music offerings consist of six bands, five choirs, three orchestras, a multi level guitar program, and a state of the art music technology facility that houses our Music Production course.

Many before and after school opportunities exist for students including jazz bands, vocal ensembles, chamber orchestra, pit orchestra, LMPM (Pep Band), and region solo, ensemble and large and small groups contests. Instructors are always available to help students with their less formal musical desires as well. For additional information about the Music department, please visit the links below.

Welcome to the Hopkins High School Guitar home page, home of the Rockin' Royals. Currently, we have over 250 students enrolled in our multi-level guitar program.

The guitar program at Hopkins High School was first proposed in 1995 by founder Mark Czech. The course pilot was very successful and in the fall of the 1996-97 school year, the program enrolled 145 enthusiastic guitar students. Since its inception, the guitar program has grown to provide three levels of guitar instruction: beginning, intermediate, advanced.

The guitar program was featured in a 1999 article written for the American String Teachers Journal, and has twice been the topic of clinics at the Minnesota Music Educators Mid Winter Conference. In its short span, the Hopkins High School Guitar Program has encouraged thousands of young, aspiring guitar players.

“We are continually impressed that students from all areas of our school community enroll in the guitar program. Guitar clearly continues to be the instrument of the generation.”
