Gatewood's mission statement is, "Gatewood creates a caring, respectful community of academic excellence where everyone is valued and feels a sense of belonging."

We want to respect the social, financial, and cultural differences among our students and families. In order to uphold our mission statement and be inclusive of all, we ask that Gatewood faculty, staff, and students refrain from wearing costumes or Halloween-related clothing to school. This way students and families who choose can celebrate the holiday at home so that everyone can feel a sense of belonging while at school.

Please make sure that your students are prepared for outdoor play every day!  That means, winter coats, hats, snowpants, boots and water proof gloves or mittens.  All students spend at least 40 minutes outside each day.  We want to make sure that they are warm enough to enjoy themselves during our Minnesota winters!

District guidance requires indoor recess and avoiding any playground use or outdoor activity for elementary school students if; The air temperature is zero degrees or lower, or the wind chill temperature is -10 or lower.

Don’t forget to join us at Family Fun Night tonight from 5:30 - 8:00p for FREE Bingo with awesome prizes, a DJ, free face painting, a food truck, and a Big Thrill Factory pizza wheel!

Thank you to all of the volunteers for helping make the Enchanted Forest Book Fair and Family Fun Night possible!

It's time for your young artist to roll up their sleeves, make a mess and play with some clay! The children will use a variety of tools and techniques to make animals, castles, bowls and much more. We will work with a variety of different types of clay throughout the class, including both Model Magic® and air-dry clay. The children will use their fingers to pinch, assemble a slab, and create coils as they learn the basics of working with clay.
