There is a specific open-enrollment program available to students who meet two criteria:
- The student and parent/guardian must live in Minneapolis, and, for Hopkins Public Schools, the residence must be specifically in North Minneapolis, AND
- The student must qualify for free/reduced price lunch.
If both criteria are met, the student is eligible to apply for open enrollment through the TCIY program. This open enrollment program provides transportation to and from school. There is no tuition charged for this program.
If you are unsure of your child's eligibility for free/reduced price lunch, please review the Food & Nutrition Services 2015-16 application (available in August). For additional assistance, you may contact the Hopkins Public Schools Nutrition office at 952.988.4060.
If you are interested in Hopkins Public Schools and your child meets the above criteria, you will need to submit an Application for Open Enrollment, which may be found in the resources box.
For the 2016-17 school year, we have completed all the placements we could make. We do have a waiting list at all grade levels, and you are welcome to join that waiting list at any time. The waiting list will be monitored throughout the school year. You will be contacted if a space opens and we are able to offer it to your student. You will need to supply a proof of residency for the address listed on the open enrollment form should you are offered a spot.
Applications for the 2017-18 school year will were due on January 15th for the initial lottery. If you miss that deadline, you may still submit an application, but it will be placed on a waiting list with all of the other open enrollment applicants in the order it was received.
