In November 2025, Hopkins voters approved a $140 million bond to modernize and improve school facilities across the district. The bond funds critical safety and security enhancements, essential infrastructure repairs and replacements, and updated learning environments, including modern classrooms, expanded career and technical education spaces, specialized areas for student support services, and improved ADA accessibility.

The investment also supports upgrades to outdoor and recreational spaces, such as playgrounds, outdoor learning areas, athletic facilities—including fields and lighting—and redesigned parking lots to improve access and traffic flow.

As part of the referendum, Hopkins Schools submitted a Review and Comment to the Minnesota Department of Education. The Review and Comment document outlined proposed referendum projects and their impact. Find the full Review and Comment document here.

Bond project timeline

Planning is underway for construction projects made possible by the successful bond referendum. We are developing the scope and sequence of design and construction, with committees at each school site helping guide the work and refine proposed projects.

Explore the Phasing Plan below. Project timelines have been carefully developed to minimize disruption for students, staff, and the community.

Safety and security projects are not reflected in the Phasing Plan, as their implementation may occur outside the primary construction schedule. The demonstrated list also excludes site work, playground improvements, and athletic projects that are not part of the current planning process. ADA restroom upgrades will take place across the district in coordination with other projects at each school.
