New guidance from Governor Walz and the Minnesota Department of Health

New guidance from Governor Walz and the Minnesota Department of Health

On Thursday, May 7, Governor Walz announced lifting many COVID-19 restrictions in Minnesota. These restrictions are mostly related to face masks and capacity limits. Please know schools are required to continue to follow the Safe Learning Plan for the remainder of the school year. However, masks are no longer required for outdoor activities. Beginning today, masks in Hopkins will be “optional but encouraged” for students engaged in outdoor recess, outdoor physical education, and other outside learning activities.

Please note, the guidance for prom has not changed; however, because the Hopkins High School prom will be outdoors, we intend to clarify with the Minnesota Department of Health what the guidance will be regarding mask wearing for our prom. Hopkins High School will be in touch with their families about this very soon. Also, this new guidance will NOT impact our graduation plans.
