The Hopkins Legislative Action Committee (LAC) hosted its annual LAC breakfast this morning, bringing together the nine legislators who represent Hopkins Public Schools, alongside Hopkins School Board members, district leaders, principals, and students.
Guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by Hopkins High School culinary students, followed by a presentation that showcased the International Baccalaureate program and its integration into the Hopkins Middle School model. Student school board representatives also shared powerful reflections on how their Hopkins education has equipped them with the skills and confidence to thrive after high school.
The LAC Breakfast provided legislators with a unique opportunity to witness the impact of public education at Hopkins firsthand while highlighting critical issues facing Minnesota schools. With schools like Hopkins navigating significant budgetary challenges, discussions focused on the district’s legislative platform, which prioritizes sustainable funding, equity-driven initiatives, and support for essential programs such as mental health services, special education, and Universal School Meals.
Thank you to Rep. Mike Freiberg, Rep. Patty Acomb, Rep. Larry Kraft, Rep. Cheryl Youakim, Rep. Alex Falconer, Sen. Ann Rest, Sen. Ann Johnson Stewart, Sen. Ron Latz, and Sen. Steve Cwodzinski for your partnership in advocating for a strong future in public education!
