The Hopkins Royelles Dance Team was honored at the Feb. 25 School Board Meeting for their outstanding performances at the Minnesota State Dance Tournament, where they placed 8th in Kick and 9th in Jazz. This was their second consecutive year at State. Dancers Sienna Hoy and Skylar Okerlund (Jazz) and Marisa Lee and Clara Hallberg (Kick) received additional honors when they were selected to compete at the All-State on March 2 at Prior Lake High School.
Dance requires tremendous athleticism, which Hopkins Superintendent Dr. Rhoda Mhiripiri-Reed acknowledged in her remarks.
“If you’ve seen Jazz and Kick perform, you are sure to witness a level of athleticism, precision, poise, and fast-paced performance that require concentration, focus, and strong team work” she said. “Watching the Royelles makes you want to go to the gym and try to be just like them!”
The Royelles is led by Head Coach Marit Green and her coaching staff: Jess Anderson, Kelly Dempsey, Allison Dill, Abby Doeden, Grace Huenemann, Kira Haglin, and Carly Schweitzer.
Congratulations to our talented dancers: Lily Anderson, Alexis Brown, Piper Dotseth, Sammie Elkins, Clara Hallberg, Sienna Hoy, Iris Kaplan, Adelyn Kassage, Erin Kim, Marisa Lee, Hadley Mang-an, Olivia Noyman, Skylar Okerlund, Evelyn Palmersheim, Elise Palmersheim, Brooklynne Patterson, Rayna Simmons, Lillian Stremel, and Eliana Wolfe.
