Eisenhower Elementary awarded grant to develop a full-service community school

Eisenhower Elementary was recently awarded the Minnesota Department of Education Community School Grant, which supports the development of sustainable Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS). The grant will fund efforts from fiscal year 2025-2027.

Starting this school year, Eisenhower plans to implement the FSCS model, focusing on six core practices:

  1. Collaborative Leadership, Shared Power, and Voice
  2. Powerful Student, Family, and Community Engagement
  3. Integrated Systems of Supports
  4. Enriched and Out-of-School-Time Learning Opportunities
  5. Rigorous, Community-Connected (Culturally Responsive) Classroom Instruction
  6. Culture of Belonging, Safety, and Care

The six pillars are designed to ensure a holistic approach to education, benefitting not only students but also families and the broader community. The FSCS model aligns seamlessly with Eisenhower’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports and International Baccalaureate frameworks.

Community schools provide a holistic approach to education by integrating academics, health services, and family support, fostering a supportive environment that helps students thrive. These schools strengthen connections among families, educators, and community resources, creating a network that enhances student success and well-being.
