On Sept. 17, Hopkins Early Childhood Family Education hosted a special event to introduce a new book vending machine at Harley Hopkins. Students, families, staff, and community members gathered to celebrate the unveiling.
Students eagerly lined up to take their turns, inserting tokens into the machine and watching their chosen books drop down. The joy and anticipation on their faces were clear as they picked up their new books. This innovative and creative initiative fosters a love for reading and encourages literacy in an engaging way.
The machine and books were generously donated by Children First, an organization that brings the community together to create better outcomes so that every young person can thrive. The artwork on the machine was designed by local artist Adam Turman.
ECFE is excited to turn the page on this new chapter of promoting early literacy in the Hopkins community—one token at a time.
