We’re so proud to celebrate Sher Unruh-Friesen, a 2026 Minnesota Teacher of the Year finalist from Glen Lake Elementary! As a special education teacher in the COMPASS program, Sher is helping create something deeper than inclusion. She is building a culture of true belonging.
Out of 128 candidates statewide, Sher is one of 11 finalists. The 2026 Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced this Sunday, May 3 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. We also want to recognize all 21 Hopkins educators who were nominated this year - including our second finalist, Amy Phung of Meadowbrook Elementary, whose story we'll be sharing later this week. Your impact across our schools is extraordinary.
