In celebration of Black History Month, Hopkins North Junior High hosted the first-ever African American Read-in on Feb. 5 at the Hopkins Public Library. An estimated 100 people of all ages attended the celebration of African American literature and African American authors. Hopkins teachers and community members took the stage reading their own prose or choosing to read the work of authors who inspired them. Some even opted to sing! Keenan Jones, Mae Gruss, and Jessica Winnie are among the Hopkins staff who served as readers.
