The Hopkins High School Orchestra is preparing for the 2019 Spotlight Concert on Feb. 22. This year, the concert will feature guest artist Aby Wolf through an artist in residence Arts learning grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Wolf has been rehearsing with the Hopkins High School Orchestra in order to prepare for the concert. The collaboration exposes string players to another style of music and gives the students an opportunity to learn from a professional musical artist.

Wolf has released four stylistically diverse albums to critical acclaim and has been named “Best Female Vocalist” and “Artist of the Year” by City Pages. She has toured the world with rapper/singer Dessa of Doomtree, and has collaborated with everyone from The New Standards and Chastity Brown to Prairie Fire Lady Choir and Brother Ali.

This spring, Wolf will release her newest musical collaboration, Champagne Confetti, an 11-piece electro-acoustic chamber ensemble featuring strings, percussion, voices, and electronics.

The 2019 Spotlight Concert will be Friday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hopkins High School Auditorium.
