Hopkins High School is hosting a Memorial Blood Center blood drive on Feb. 8. In addition to saving lives, donations will help send students to college. Memorial Blood Center is providing scholarships to college bound Hopkins High School students who volunteer during the blood drive. For every unit of blood donated at the drive, students earn money.

The blood drive is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The donation goal is 200 units of blood, which would save about 600 lives. The drive will be held at Hopkins High School (2400 Lindbergh Drive, Minnetonka) in the old gym.

Parents and community members can schedule their donation time and fill out their health history online at: www.mbc.org through the Hero Hub. The sponsor code is 1505. Donors are encouraged to signup online prior to donating. It typically takes one hour for a person to give blood.

As an added bonus, we were able to secure 2 pairs of tickets to the Blake Shelton Friends and Heroes concert for March 15th! All presenting donors at blood drives in February will be entered to win one of two pairs of tickets plus a gift card to the Liffey Restaurant (across the street from the Xcel Energy Center)!

If you have questions about the blood drive, please contact Hopkins school nurse Shannon Sinkel at 952-988-4494 or shannon.sinkel@hopkinsschools.org.
