Ten Hopkins student-athletes sign collegiate letters of intent

The spring national signing day took place Tuesday, April 18, as 10 Hopkins High School students will continue their academics and athletics at colleges around the country.

Families, fellow students, and Hopkins High School faculty filled the Lindbergh Center on Tuesday, April 18 to celebrate the spring signing day, where 10 Hopkins student-athletes formally committed to college academics and athletics.

The Royals athletes, who will graduate in just six weeks, said their choices hinged on a combination of chemistry with their respective teams and rigor of academics. Many of the students participating in the spring signing ceremony chose colleges in the Midwest.

Therese Versen – Claremont McKenna College – Track/cross-country

Maggie Cleary – University of Minnesota – Synchronized swimming

Julia Hall – University of South Dakota – Golf

Morgan Holmes – Des Moines Area Community College – Baseball

Makenzie Merritt – Northern State University – Softball

Sam Oxford – University of St. Thomas – Football

Lucy Swift – Macalester College – Basketball
