Gatewood Elementary accepted a $2,500 donation from Luther Hopkins Honda of the Greater Twin Cities Honda Dealers (GTCHDA) on Dec. 7. The donation is part of the association’s “Life is Better Thanks to the Greater Twin Cities Honda Dealers” campaign.

Gatewood is one of two schools selected to receive the grant money. Principal Mark French was honored to accept the check from GTCHDA.

“The grant money will help us transform our computer lab space into an Imagination Lab for makerspace activities and science activities that support our environmental education focus,” French said.

As part of the GTCHDA campaign, each Honda dealership within the association donates up to $5,000 to select schools within their community.

“When we started this initiative, I didn’t comprehend the impact of $5,000,” said Kyle Allison, GTCHDA president. “The school’s administration, teachers and students are so excited but it trickles down to the parents, grandparents and the rest of the community.”
