Concert Choir performance recognition

October 24, 2008

In November, the Hopkins High School Concert Choir performed two honors performances. The choir was invited to be a guest performer at the Minnesota State University-Mankato Choral Festival. The Concert Choir performed music by contemporary composers, Ola Gjeilo, Derek Bermel, and Rosephanye Powell along with a Southern folk song by Vaclav Nelhybel. The Concert Choir also participated in the mass choir for the festival under the direction of David Dickau.

Later in the month, the Concert Choir performed at this year's Minnesota Choral Directors Association Convention. The choir auditioned to perform at the convention, and performed a 25-minute set of music. In addition to their performance music mentioned above, the Concert Choir also sang music by W.A. Mozart, Byron Smith, and Minnesota composer David Dickau.
