Aisha Dem is a first generation American and a senior at Hopkins High School.
As the daughter of Gambian immigrants who came to the USA seeking better opportunities for their children, Aisha understands the importance of equality. She started the MSA (Muslim Students Association) to give Muslim students a voice. MSA is open to all students, and serves to educate and debunk negative stereotypes surrounding Islam. Aisha stresses that MSA is open to everyone and that if you've never spoken to a Muslim person, it is the perfect way to do so. Anyone who attends the meetings will find that Aisha is a natural leader, and her warmth and sense of humor are contagious.
