We have been working hard over the summer to guarantee that regardless of the learning model we are operating in, we will deliver an exceptional education. We are excited to announce that starting this fall we will be using Canvas, a premium learning management system. Using Canvas, teachers can collaborate to build world-class, student-centered experiences delivered in person, distance, or hybrid. Canvas allows each student’s learning to be in one central place. Using Canvas, parents will have a vastly different experience than in previous years as the platform allows parents to observe and access their child’s classroom experience.

As part of the first step into the #HopkinsStrong Start, we are asking all parents and caregivers to create a Canvas Observer Account (parent account). Canvas can be accessed here or by downloading the Canvas Parent App from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

Parent account creation requires a unique student pairing code. You can receive a pairing code one of two ways:

1. Students can generate their own pairing codes to share with parents by going into their Canvas account settings.

2. Parents can request a pairing code by contacting our district technical service desk at 952-988-4111 (this option may work best for parents of young children).

High school students will sign in via Classlink (our district single sign-in tool) using their district username and password OR at this link: http://hopkinsschools.org/canvas. Grades K-9 students will sign into the Canvas Student Mobile App, which can be downloaded from Self Service. The Canvas portal can also be accessed by students from our district homepage.

We encourage both students and parents to practice signing into Canvas. During the first week of #HopkinsStrong Start you will be able to preview classes, explore content, and engage in Canvas training. Parents will receive an email with more information about how to access your child’s Canvas page, which is where you will access customized content for the #HopkinsStrong Start.

A few other resources available to you include:

We are excited for the robust learning experiences that Canvas will make possible this year! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our technology team should you have questions. Call our service desk at 952-988-4111.
