The Hopkins School Board unanimously approved the 2019-20 school year calendar at the January 8 Board Meeting. The District received positive feedback from parents and staff regarding changes made to this year's calendar. Based on this feedback we will continue the following:
- Elementary students will once again NOT have school during the entire week of MEA break (October 14);
- The conference format introduced this year at the secondary schools will continue;
- We will once again schedule a tiered school start for new and returning students at the secondary level.
New this year is an all-staff professional development day on November 5. Feedback from staff revealed a desire to access professional development earlier in the year. We chose Election Day because it also accommodated a request from our community regarding the use of elementary schools as voting locations while schools are in session. The District is currently exploring childcare options for the week of October 14 as well as the staff development day in November.
A rough list of all the dates is provided below. They will be added to our Google calendars within the next two weeks. You can view the comprehensive calendar that the school board approved by clicking on the January 8, School Board Packet. The calendar is posted on page 59. A simplified visual PDF that can be downloaded and printed will be available by February.
