COVID-19 Updates for Community Education programs

To protect the health and safety of our school community, please see the following updates about cancellations.
We look forward to welcoming you back to our classrooms when we open our buildings again.

Please find Hopkins Public Schools COVID-19 district information here. This will include information on student meals during school closure and more.

Child Care: Child care for children ages 4-12 will be available to parents who are emergency workers and Hopkins Public Schools staff who are required to physically report to work. We will need to verify your employment: When you first drop your child off, please show an employee badge or a letter from your employer on letterhead verifying your employment.
Emergency Worker Child Care for April 6-May 4: $14/day for before-care, $14/day for after-care with the school-day hours free.

Early Childhood Distance Learning begins on Monday, April 6 for ECFE and Preschool families, while our buildings remain closed.

Update for April 1, 2020

Youth Enrichment Activities - While many classes between March 30 and May 3, 2020 are being postponed, rescheduled, or cancelled (please watch for specific information on your classes through email), we will have several youth and family online classes and experiences in the days and weeks ahead.

Explore online youth enrichment classes and activities. And watch email and social media for more classes.

Friday Night Live is cancelled for this Spring.

Adult Enrichment Activities: Face to face classes from March 30-May 3, 2020 are currently suspended due to school and art center closures. Many classes in adult enrichment are being moved to an online platform starting soon! Watch for specific information on your class and new opportunities we are developing by email.


Update on March 25, 2020

- All Hop-Kids spring classes have been canceled and participants will be issued a full refund.


Update from Hopkins Early Childhood: March 23, 2020

  • All Early Childhood programs and services will be closed until school resumes.
  • Child care for parents who are first responders and healthcare workers will be available starting Wednesday, March 18.

YMCA is providing childcare for first responders on a first come/first served basis:

Refund information:

Kids & Company, Stepping Stones Preschool, Kaleidoscope Preschool, and Stay & Explore will be refunding families for the days of March 16-April 3, 2020.

These programs will not be invoicing for April at this time. When invoicing does occur, a reduced rate will be offered to families depending on the length of the closure.

Distance learning will be provided for Kaleidoscope Preschool and Stepping Stones programs beginning April 6 and continuing until further notice

Volunteer!

Community Education Office Closing:
Based on the latest recommendations from the State of Minnesota, we have made the decision to close the Hopkins Community Education district office to the public starting March 18. Our staff will be checking phone messages and emails regularly, and will be available to serve our clients and customers by phone/email.
We will continue to monitor the state recommendations and reopen to the public when the current situation changes.


Updates from Monday, March 16, 2020:

Adult enrichment class opportunities through Hopkins Community Education will be cancelled from Monday, March 16 through April 5.
We will make decisions for classes beyond April 5 at a later date and reschedule any missed classes as possible.  

Youth enrichment class opportunities through Hopkins Community Education will be cancelled from Monday, March 16 through April 5.

Hop-Kids preschool enrichment class opportunities through Hopkins Minnetonka Recreation Services and Hopkins Community Education will be cancelled from Monday, March 16 through April 5.
