What do I need to enroll my child?

If you live in the Hopkins School District, you will need the following:

Before you begin, please gather the following documents. You will be able to upload a photo or scan of the documents while completing the online enrollment form.

Household Information: address and parent/guardian phone numbers
Proof of Residency (one of the following is required for enrollment):
- Utility bill (gas, electrical, or water) or other residential bill delivered within last 30 days.
- Original copy of either a current (signed) lease/rental agreement or purchase agreement for home.
Parent Information: work and cell phone numbers, email addresses.
Student Information:
- Original birth certificate or passport (required for kindergarten)
- Health/medication information
- Immunization records
- Previous school information
- Early childhood screening record (kindergarten only)
Emergency Contact Information: names, phone numbers, and addresses.

Note: Required fields in the online form are marked with a red asterisk. The District will receive the information exactly as you enter it into the forms. Please be careful of spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. At the bottom of each page of the form, there is the option to save your progress and return to it later.

If you live outside of the Hopkins Schools District, you will need:

Step 1: Apply for Open Enrollment using the Open Enrollment Application.
Step 2: Once a spot is offered, you will get information on how to complete the enrollment process.

My child will turn five-years-old after September 1, 2027. Can I enroll them in kindergarten for the 2027-28 school year?

If your child is not five years old on September 1, but will turn five by October 31, 2027, you may apply for Kindergarten Early Entrance. An information session and application for Early Entrance will be available in the Spring of 2027, through our Early Childhood department.

I have a child that is currently Open Enrolled in Hopkins. If I have another child that will be new to the Hopkins school district, will I need to Open Enroll them too?

My child is already part of Hopkins preschool. Will I still need to enroll in Hopkins kindergarten?
