Meal BalancesMeal Balances

“Mom, I need lunch money, TODAY!”  How many times have you received that call at work or at home?

Our staff members work with students to help them take responsibility for their own meal accounts.

When students are in the early grades, cashiers give a verbal reminder, offer hand stamps, and send notes home when balances are near or below zero.  Meals are never taken away, and the children will always be able to choose one of the three main entrées.  When a student’s account goes below zero, a note is sent home and the cashier will call home to remind the parent(s) to send money the next day for future meals.

At the secondary schools, students are expected to be responsible for communicating balance information home to parents, and we no longer send reminder notes.  Trays are not taken away, but phone calls are made to the parent, envelopes are offered to the student as a reminder, and hand stamps are available as well.

Dealing with negative balances and telling students at the secondary schools that they do not have enough money is the most difficult part of a cashier’s job.  We do everything we can to prevent negative balances at all schools by offering hand stamps, payment envelopes, reminder slips, and calling students' homes.

You can check lunch balances and make payments onlne using your Parent Portal Account. Deposits made online will be credited instantly to your child's account.
