Hopkins School District #270

After an unusually cold and snowy start to the track season, the Hopkins High School Track Team finished the season with an amazing performance at the state championship. Hopkins athletes took first in both the boys and girls 100-meter dash, both the boys and girls teams finished in the top six in the state, and the girls 4x100 team took first and set a new state record.

After crushing their regular season and placing second at the regional conference, the Hopkins High School Trap Team - the Clay Crushers - took third place at the state tournament last weekend in Alexandria, Minn. Athlete Quinn Rohweder earned a socre of 98 and placed second out of 2,100 athletes.

Last night, 631 students graduated from Hopkins High School. Of the Hopkins 2013 graduating class, 170 students graduated with honors. Thirty-six students graduated with honors with distinction, three were National Merit Finalists and 11 were National Merit Commended students. Congratulations to the entire class of 2013! The class of 2013 is graduating and Hopkins students have many amazing stories to share. One of the most remarkable stories involves Hopkins senior, Sam Carman, meeting President Obama during the vacation of a lifetime. From chemotherapy treatment to the Oval Office, Carman has come a long way.

Sophie Stillman, a senior at Hopkins High School, was named this year's winner of "The Hy Truman/Donald Goldberg Memorial Award." The award is presented by the Mercury Club, and is given to an outstanding female and male high school senior Jewish scholar/athlete in the Minneapolis area. The Memorial Award is believed to be the longest running Jewish club award in the country. Stillman is the 26th female winner.
