ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

 

PROJECT IDENTIFICATION: Hopkins Public Schools, Independent School District No. 270, will be receiving sealed bids for the Food Service Alterations at Alice Smith Elementary School, located at 801 Minnetonka Mills Road, Hopkins, Minnesota 55343; Gatewood Elementary School, located at 149 Gatewood Drive, Minnetonka, Minnesota 55345 and Hopkins West Junior High School, located at 3830 Baker Road, Minnetonka, Minnesota 55305, in accordance with the Bidding Documents prepared by Armstrong, Torseth, Skold & Rydeen, Inc., Architects and Engineers, 8501 Golden Valley Road, Suite 300, Minneapolis, MN 55427-4414.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Work consists of alterations to the food service and preparation areas at all three (3) schools. Work includes removal of existing partitions, finishes, doors, walk-in coolers/freezers, food service equipment and related conditions. New work to be provided includes new partitions, new doors, new finishes, new kitchen equipment, new walk-in coolers and freezer, plumbing and ventilation modifications and electrical and technology work. Areas in building affected by the Work include approximately 19,500 square feet at Alice Smith, 11,000 square feet at Gatewood and 15,000 square feet at Hopkins West Junior High.

TYPE OF BIDS: A Single lump sum Bid will be received for the Food Service Alterations Work taking place at Alice Smith Elementary School, Gatewood Elementary School and Hopkins West Junior High School.

BID DATE: Bids shall be received on or before March 4, 2010, at 2:00 PM, local time. Bids will be opened at that time.

DELIVERY AND OPENING OF BIDS: Bids shall be delivered to and opened at the Hopkins School District Administrative Office, located at 1001 Highway 7, Suite #96, Hopkins, Minnesota. Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud immediately after the specified time of closure for bidding period. Interested parties are invited to attend the opening of the bids.

BID SECURITY: Bids shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check or Surety Bid Bond in the amount of 5 percent of the Base Bid submitted, made payable to the Owner, as a guarantee that the Bidder will, if awarded the contract, enter into a contract with the Owner in accordance with Bid submitted and the Contract Documents.

PROCUREMENT OF DOCUMENTS BY PRIME BIDDERS: Prime Bidders may secure up to two (2) sets of Bidding Documents, including Drawings and Project Manual, from Albinson Reprographics, 1401 Glenwood Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55405-1295; Telephone Number: 612-374-1120; Toll-Free Number: 800-328-7154; Fax Number: 612-374-1129, upon submittal of a separate deposit check of $100.00 made out to Armstrong, Torseth, Skold & Rydeen, Inc., for each set of Documents. Deposit check will be refunded for each complete set of Documents returned to Albinson Reprographics, within 10 days after bid date, in good condition as determined by Albinson Reprographics.

PROCUREMENT OF DOCUMENTS BY SUB-BIDDERS: Major Mechanical (Plumbing, Ventilation and Temperature Control, Fire Protection) and Electrical Subcontract Bidders may secure one (1) set of Bidding Documents, including Drawings and Project Manual, from Albinson Reprographics, 1401 Glenwood Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55405-1295; Telephone Number: 612-374-1120; Toll-Free Number: 800-328-7154; Fax Number: 612-374-1129, upon submittal of a separate deposit check of $100.00 made out to Armstrong, Torseth, Skold & Rydeen, Inc., for each set of Documents. Deposit check will be refunded for each complete set of Documents returned to Albinson Reprographics, within 10 days after bid date, in good condition as determined by Albinson Reprographics.

Other subcontract bidders and product suppliers will not be issued Bidding Documents on deposit, but may purchase full or partial sets from Albinson Reprographics at cost of printing, handling, and shipping. Costs for purchasing Bidding Documents will not be refunded. Subcontract bidders and product suppliers are responsible for determining which portions of the Bidding Documents are needed.

PROCUREMENT OF ADDENDA: Architect will produce and Albinson Reprographics will issue, free of charge, a copy of each addendum to holders of each Bidding Document set procured by deposit and to Builders Exchanges and Plan Rooms issued Bidding Documents.

PRE-BID MEETINGS: Owner highly recommends that Prime Bidders intending to submit a Bid attend Pre-Bid Meetings to be held on February 15, 2010, starting at Alice Smith at 9:00 A.M., then Gatewood at 12:00 noon and then Hopkins West Junior High at 2:00 P.M. Participants shall meet at Main Office of each School.

TIME OF COMMENCEMENT AND COMPLETION: Work shall commence upon Architect's notification to proceed at each Project site. Work at Alice Smith and Gatewood may commence on June 7, 2010 and may commence at Hopkins West Junior High on June 3, 2010. Work shall be substantially completed by August 9, 2010 and final completion shall be August 23, 2010.

BONDING REQUIREMENTS: Contractor will be required to provide a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond in amount of 100 percent of Contract Amount.

OWNER'S RIGHTS: Owner reserves the right to reject a Bid which is incomplete or irregular, the right to waive informalities or irregularities in a Bid received, and the right to accept a Bid which in the Owner's judgment is in Owner's best interests.

WAGE DETERMINATION REQUIREMENTS: Contract is subject to compliance with the applicable Schedule of Prevailing Wages issued by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
