Half-Day KindergartenHalf-Day Kindergarten

Half-day is the traditional kindergarten option in Hopkins Public Schools. Half-Day Kindergarten children attend kindergarten five days a week in either a half-day morning or afternoon session.

Benefits:

Half-day kindergartners will work with a licensed teacher in all academic areas.

  • Curriculum areas include language arts, math, science, social studies, health, music, and physical education as well as emphasis on each child's social/emotional growth.

  • Curriculum is based on the Hopkins Academic and Self-Development Skill Expectations.

  • Learning Resource Teachers (LRTs) will work with the kindergarten teacher to support student learning for a portion of each day.

Hours:

2.5 hours per day in the kindergarten classroom, in either a morning or afternoon session, five days a week

Before- and after-school care options:

Adding* Kids & Company before-school care to morning kindergarten, OR after-school care to afternoon kindergarten: $2,125. Three- and four-day Kids & Company options are available. Kids & Company rates for 2011-12 are subject to change. Enrollment in half-day kindergarten does not guarantee space in Kids & Company's before- and after-school child care. Space is limited.
