Notification of school closings, late-starts, and other emergenciesNotification of school closings, late-starts, and other emergencies

Question

How are parents typically notified of school closings and unscheduled early release on school days due to weather? Are there any automated email listservs or web-sites that we can log on to view updated data about school closings or early release?

Answer

Our Connect-ED® message system is our primary notification tool if winter storms or other emergencies cause us to close school for the day, delay the beginning of the school day, or close school early.

An announcement will be sent as early as 6:30 a.m. when school will be closed or start late. Early dismissal from school in session will be announced approximately one hour before dismissal.

Secondary information resources include WCCO radio (830 AM); television stations WCCO TV (Channel 4), KSTP TV (Channel 5), and KARE TV (Channel 11); the school closing phone line at 952.988.4019; and the district's website.

Connect-ED® Messaging System

Connect-ED® is our primary information resource for parents. Through email and phone, the message system personally communicates with parents about emergency situations, school events, and other issues that have an impact on their children.

Parents:

  • Please double check that we have your correct primary phone numbers and email addresses through Infinite Campus.
  • If you do not have log-in for Infinite Campus, please send an email.
  • You can correct your own email addresses, but need to contact your school to correct any wrong phone numbers.
  • New families to the district receive Infinite Campus log-in information at registration.
