Question
Why are students allowed to have negative lunch balances?
Answer
We would prefer that students not have negative lunch balances. However, we also want our children to be fed—breakfast and lunch. We allow the negative fund balances because we do not want to deny any child a proper meal. Parents can check their child's lunch balance via Infinite Campus, and we do notify parents when lunch balances become extreme. We also remind parents that they can apply for free or reduced-priced lunch at any time. Parents and students share responsibility in ensuring that lunch balances do not go into the negative, and we urge parents to check those balances often.
