Question

Do my children see the same information that I see when they log on to Infinite Campus? Or do the kids view more or different information? Is Infinite Campus the only avenue that kids have to access their information or is Moodle more useful to them? What are the differences between the two?

Answer

The major difference between the Infinite Campus student portal view and the parent portal view is that students only see their own information. Parents see the information for all students in their family. Both students and parents can see schedule, attendance, assessment, transportation and grades. Some of the secondary—junior and senior high schools-—also include fees and graduation information on the Infinite Cmapus portal. The grades on the portal are a live interface with the teacher's gradebook, so they show the most up to date information.

Some messages on the Infinite Campus portal are posted only for parents or only for students. For example, lunch deposits are only available through the parent portal—not the student portal. In most cases, who sees the message is determined by the person posting it; i.e., a teacher could post a message for their students, for parents, or for both.

Moodle is used by teachers to keep their students and parents up to date on daily happenings in the classroom. Each teacher uses it differently, but it would be the place to check for homework assignments.

Families should check both the portal and Moodle to keep up to date.
