Question

Will H1N1 flu shots be available through the schools?

Answer

The 2009 H1N1 vaccine is not available yet, but will be arriving soon. Minnesota schools will not be giving the vaccine to children. At first, the vaccine will be given to people in the priority groups:

  • pregnant women;
  • people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age;
  • health care and emergency medical services personnel;
  • persons between the ages of 6 months through 24 years of age; and
  • people from ages 25 through 64 years who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.

Minnesota schools will not be giving the vaccine to children. The federal government will distribute the vaccine to health care providers and clinics. Please check with them or go to http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/idepc/diseases/flu/h1n1/vaccine/index... for more information.
