Parents of students who attend one of Hopkins Public Schools' Title I schools—Alice Smith Elementary School, Eisenhower Elementary School, Gatewood Elementary School, Hopkins North Junior High, and L.H. Tanglen Elementary School—have the right, under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLBA) of 2001, to know the professional qualifications of the teachers who instruct their children. The NCLBA gives parents the right to ask for the following information about each child's classroom teachers:

• Whether the state of Minnesota has licensed or qualified the teacher for the grades and subjects he or she teaches.
• Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency permit or other provisional status by which state licensing criteria have been waived.
• The teacher's college major, and whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subject of the degrees.
• Whether any instructional aides or similar paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications.
