Hopkins Public Schools named a ‘2017 Best School District in America’

Hopkins Public Schools has been named a “2017 Best School District in America” by Niche.com, a website that helps parents find the right school for them. Hopkins earned eighth place in the category “Best School District in Minnesota.”

Hopkins Public Schools has been named a "2017 Best School District in America" by Niche.com, a website that helps parents find the right school for them. Hopkins earned eighth-place in the category "Best School District in Minnesota." Hopkins achieved this ranking by scoring highly on a variety of factors including SAT/ACT scores, student-teacher ratio, the quality of colleges that students consider, and reviews from students and parents. 

Hopkins Public Schools did well in a number of other categories rated by Niche, as well. Hopkins earned fourth place in the category "Best Places to Teach in Minnesota," eighth-place in the category "Most Diverse School District in Minnesota," and eighth-place in the category "Safest School Districts in the Minneapolis Metro."

The 2017 Best Public Schools ranking is based on eight different factors that have varying weights. The factors include Academics (50%), Culture and Diversity (10%), Health and Safety (10%), Student and Parent Surveys (10%), Teachers (10%), Resources and Facilities (5%), Clubs and Activities (2.5 %), and Sports (2.5%). Niche also uses data from the Common Core, the U.S. Department of Education, the Civil Rights Data Collection and from parent surveys to develop its overall ranking.
