Question
Is XinXing Academy growing so fast it will take over Eisenhower Elementary, and will Eisenhower teachers be teaching English to XinXing third graders next year?
Answer
No and no. Although XinXing Academy is growing, the Eisenhower Elementary building will continue to be used to house both programs; neither program will be asked to relocate.
There will be a plan in place very soon to clarify who will be teaching English to XinXing Academy third graders next year. Eisenhower classroom teachers will not be expected to add that to their responsibilities, and the instructional time other students are receiving will not be affected.
The school district is committed to monitoring the growth of XinXing Academy and how it relates to the future of Eisenhower Elementary. Planning groups are currently meeting to examine issues such as space and English instruction, as well as how to handle other needs of a growing school. The planning groups will develop a systematic plan for the future of Eisenhower, with some general recommendations perhaps available in January.
