Question

Why is Hopkins using math CAPTCHAs for its webforms?

Answer

We use CAPTCHAs to protect our system from email spam generated by automated software.

Many websites use letter and number Captchas like the example below. However, many people find these difficult to use and very annoying.

We use the simple math one instead of the letter one because it is much easier for users.

To date, the CAPTCHAs on our site have blocked more than 400 spam submissions to our webforms.
