Venus Transit Viewing Party at Eisenhower Observatory
If you missed Venus passing in front of the Sun last time, this will be your final opportunity in the next 105 years!!
Join us on Tuesday, June 5, as we watch the planet Venus move in front of the Sun. We'll be able to watch the spectacle with sun-safe telescopes and viewing glasses. The event starts at 5:00, with the transit beginning shortly after that. Although the sun will be setting before the transit is complete, we'll continue to do star gazing until 10:00. This will be a great event for people of all ages. As the transit progresses, walk around to get a view from some of the other telescopes. Stop into the classroom to get the details of what is happening, watch live webcast coverage of the event, and visit our roof-top observatory. For a truly far-out adventure, go down to the gym to take a tour of the cosmos in the Bell Museum's portable planetarium: ExploraDome. It will be an event you don't want to miss. This event will go on, rain or shine. If clouds hamper our view from the ground, we will still have the webcast view along with a variety of other activities.
